We are thrilled to announce that Jim Budde, PharmD, RPh, DICVP, has officially joined the Brief Media medical team as our senior pharmacy officer. Dr. Budde brings a unique and important perspective to our leadership and medical teams as we expand the Plumb’s brand into our new clinical support tool, Plumb’s Pro.
Dr. Budde has a long history with Plumb’s, reaching back to his time serving as president of the Society of Veterinary Hospital Pharmacists (SVHP). It’s there that he first connected with Donald Plumb, PharmD, author of the seminal Plumb’s Veterinary Drug Handbook and namesake of the Plumb’s brand with which Dr. Budde has been entrusted. A decision that Dr. Plumb wholeheartedly supports.
“Jim’s understanding of veterinary drugs, pharmacy, and veterinary medicine aligned with his meticulous attention to detail make him the perfect choice to shepherd the Plumb’s brand moving forward.”Donald Plumb, PharmD
In his new position, Dr. Budde will work closely with fellow Plumb’s leadership, including Chief Scientific Officer Indu Mani, DVM, ScD; Chief Medical Officer Amy Mohl, DVM; and Veterinary Officer, Pharmacy, Dawn McCluskey, DVM, who foresees Budde bringing a valuable new perspective to Plumb’s.
“Promoting Jim to a full-time member of the Brief Media medical team brings a welcome dimension to our leadership. His ability to critically evaluate and distill complex information and present it in a digestible way for veterinarians to apply in their daily practice is a real strength for us.”Dawn McCluskey, DVM
About Dr. Budde
After earning his doctorate of pharmacy from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, Dr. Budde gained experience in a variety of pharmacy settings, including educational institutions, commercial pharmacies, and long-term care facilities serving human patients. In 2007, he returned to his alma mater as the pharmacy manager for University of Wisconsin Veterinary Care.
An accomplished writer and educator, Dr. Budde has served as an instructor for over two decades at the University of Wisconsin–Madison School of Pharmacy as well as a reviewer of veterinary textbooks for Elsevier Publishing since 2011.

“For over two decades, veterinarians, veterinary pharmacists, and pharmacists have relied on the Plumb’s Veterinary Drug Handbook for accurate, up-to-date, and thorough details on dosing, drug interactions, and pet owner information. Serving as the steward of the Plumb’s brand as a member of the Brief Media senior medical team allows me to amplify my reach as an instructor and educator through two of the most trusted brands in veterinary medicine (Plumb’s and Clinician’s Brief).”Jim Budde, PharmD, RPh, DICVP
The true value of a point-of-care reference tool like Plumb’s lies within the quality of the content. And you can’t have accurate, updated content without a team like this one. We are so thrilled to officially welcome Dr. Budde to this team, as it spells a promising future for Plumb’s and for the veterinary and pharmacy professionals who rely on it daily.
